La King, Osborne Rd, Southsea

With the wife away I thought I’d be a stereo type and order a take away. Chinese was top of my list; mainly because we tend to avoid them due to the wife’s nut allergy. Logging on to iTakeout I found two Chinese take always that would deliver to me so I went for the one I’d never herd of. I thought I would live dangerously. *smile*

La King is based in the centre of Southsea but I had never herd of it. I ordered a special chow mien, sweet and sour chicken balls, and a vegetable spring roll. The food arrive on the advertised 45 min mark and was nice and hot. I was a little worried about the idea of using a new Chinese; I tend to stick to what I know but was I was pleasantly surprised. The food tasted somewhat authentic. Bare in mind I have no idea what that tastes like it just tasted as I would expect authentic Chinese food taste.

It wasn’t too greasy. It almost seemed healthy. There were lots of vegetables and they we nice and crisp. The sources were not too thick and fatty (as good as that tastes). It was a genuinely different experience.

That said I did feel that the noodles were a little under done for my taste but that may have just been me. I still think that my favourite Chinese in Southsea is the Regal House on Albert Rd but the added convenience of being about to order online may well be enough me to use La King again.

Certainly worth a try.
